The first time I saw King Khan and The Shrines was back in 2008 at Mohawk, with the awesome Jacuzzi Boys as openers. Four years later, I was excited to see that both bands were touring together again...and had a stop in Austin...at Mohawk! Whaaat?!
So the show was this past Saturday and, as expected, was a total blast. Here are some of my pics from the night.

I'm not a music critic, I can barely form words without having an acute panic attack. So i'll simply say this: JEFF the Brotherhood rule. Not only do my friends and I constantly have their albums on play, but Jake and Jamin are two of the coolest dudes I know. And two of the funnest to photograph. Did I mention that last year, Leon pushed his flight to London back two days just so he wouldn't miss their Antone's show? And that JTB was the first band I introduced him to that he actually liked? I deserved a medal for that one.
Anyway, JTB have come through Austin like 50 times in three years, most recently this week on their tour with The Kills - view my live shots from the show here! I met up with the guys afterwards and snapped some polaroids around the venue/their tourbus. It's actually a converted schoolbus, which i'd say is only slightly smaller than my apartment. This was initially just going to be a blog post with the polaroids I snapped on Wednesday, but I've decided to also throw in some older portraits I have taken of the guys over the past few years. Kind of like my own "Chronicles of JEFF the Brotherhood". So yeah, these shots have been put in chronological order, dating back to one of the first times I saw JTB play (Valentine's Day at Emo's)! Enjoy.

Was back in England for a month over the holidays. Went around to see friends in London, Manchester, the countryside, as well as visiting Paris for a few days. Here are some photos I snapped during this time...besides the two photos of me of course, which were taken by my compadre Leon. Used a variety film cameras for these, including the Leica R8 and Pentax 6x7s I got for Christmas!

Well I must say, as far as music photography goes, 2011 has been a blast. I was fortunate enough to cover some great events in the states and abroad, as well as work alongside some incredible photographers who I now consider friends. Y'all know who you are, and you guys rule. Also, thanks to anyone who's taken the time to give me photography advice, life advice, check out my website, comment on my blogs or photos, buy me a red bull...you've helped make this year my most progressive yet, and I dedicate this song to you. *sniffles*
In the spirit of blogging, I've looked back through my live music photos from 2011 and put together some of my personal favorites - from SXSW to Lollapalooza, Arcade Fire at The Backyard, Sleigh Bells at La Zona Rosa, ACL, Wireless Festival, Voodoo Fest, and much more. So I've been sorting through some older photos when I came across my Tom Vek shots from his London gig this past summer. I then realized that they've never been posted on my site or flickr. Seeing as I'll be back in the UK in a few weeks, I figured it'd be a good time to share a few of these!
Had so much fun shooting these last weekend. The atmosphere of FFF Fest is really intimate and laid back, and I feel like these artist polas capture some of that aspect as well. I mean, Diplo and a spiderman blow up doll? Ryan Gosling snarling? Davila 666 making out? Check it out, y'all.
